My husband and I recently came into some money, and we are seriously thinking about realising our dream of opening our own restaurant. It something both of us have talked about for a long time but until recently it was a dream and nothing more. Now it seems that we could potentially make it a reality but the trouble is, we don't know where to begin! Neither of us have any business experience in this field, but we have been asking around to see if anyone can help us. I would like a professional opinion however. Is getting a financial advisor the best way to go? I am only aware of a few of the larger ones, such as Rowan Dartington, but I don't want to go in there not really knowing the right questions to ask to get the information I need. I also don't know if they are the right company to deal with our small business idea. Is seeking financial advice the best way to work out how to wisely invest into our business? Has anyone done anything similar and could tell me how it worked out for them? Does anyone have any experience with Rowan Dartington that could help me make this decision? If anyone has any useful information or advice for us I would appreciate it a lot! Image by Community Friend.
Summertime is all about nice summery clothes. Cool fabrics, floral designs and of course a nice bikini! This summer I think it is all about the Summer Dresses! From boob tube, to vintage look and even maxi dresses there are so many to choose from and all look great! This is one of my favourites at the moment: It is from Holly Willoughby collection at Very and is £65. It is vintage inspired and I think it would look great with a bright pink cardigan, a brown belt and brown sandals. Love it! Picture: very.co.uk
I'm really hoping this isn't a big problem, but I think my camera's memory card - full of my Paris photos(!) - might have corrupted. Can anyone help? It's a 2GB compact flash with loads of photos on it, but while taking a photo today my camera suddenly said "Card Error" and then turned off. Now I can't get anything from my card either on my camera or my computer, if I plug the camera in or use a memory card reader. I don't know what happened, it has been working fine for ages, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with my camera, and I reformat the card fairly regularly through my camera - not my camera as I've been told that's not good. Has anyone experienced this before? Do I need software to retrieve my files? I really hope they're not gone for good - all my Paris memories are on there! Photo: D-Brown! (Flickr)
I went out to my parents' house this weekend for a visit, and ended up coming home with a car full of my childhood possessions! My parents had been clearing out their outdoor storage unit in the garden, and a lot of what was in there was mine, so I loaded it all up and brought it home, and spent the rest of the weekend sifting through it! It's amazing how much stuff you forget over the years, and how a simple photograph, ticket or keyring can re-ignite a whole host of memories! I don't know what to do with it now, I want to keep it all but I don't have the space, so I'll probably keep the most precious bits and bobs and get rid of the rest. I just hope I'm not getting rid of the memories too! Photo: jek in the box (Flickr)
I made it to Paris! But now I'm pretty much penniless. As I type this I'm also filling out my details on Wonga.com so they can bail me out and lend me a bit of money to tide me over until pay day... which is in two weeks. I couldn't help it! I was in Paris and it was amaaaazing. So beautiful, the weather was great. We strolled along the Seine, went to the top of the Eiffel Tower, walked around the Notre Dame...
And then we found so many gorgeous boutiques selling the most fabulous clothes, accessories, everything! So the money just, sort of, poured out of my purse and I came back with so many bags of lovely things. But no money. I can't wait to go back with more of my friends for a proper girly weekend away. But I will DEFINITELY save way more money in advance this time! Photo: Phil Beard (Flickr)
