At the weekend I went to watch my mate in a race called Spartan. I had never heard of it before and I was intrigued at what it had in store for my friend! It was in Cambridge at the Bassingbourn barracks. The race was 5km and involved the assault course, which the Army train on. The runners did not know what would be on the course, but the state in which some of the came back it looked hard! There was a spear throw, mud pit, a dark tunnel crawl and a swim across a lake. It took my friend 30minutes to complete but it took others over an hour. The best part though was at the finish line when the runners had to run through a ring with two gladiators who would try and stop them passing! Apparently the winner of the race (whoever finished in the fastest time) gets to go to America to compete in the Spartan Race World Championship in America!
